Backwords. Based out of Brooklyn and Philadelphia, Backwords blends modern psychadelics with 50s rock, roots, and alt-country. They take a gulp of harmony, fuse it with sonic experimental firecrackers, and end up bouncing with love on stage. Think Neil Young meets Built to Spill.
Flowers is a brand new group from Philadelphia coming up to play their first show in New York. The band meshes layers of swirling guitar feedback to structurally subverted avant -garde pop songs. In short, experimental music you can hum along to. Myspace: flowersnohippie

Declan Zimmerman. Declan Zimmerman's music will make you laugh knowingly, shift uncomfortably, weep uncontrollably and then it will get stuck in your head for days. That said, it is quite entertaining and relatively harmless. Someone once told him the songs remind them of The Magnetic Fields. He was flattered. Myspace: declanzimmerman
Discovery. This fancy four-piece from Brooklyn writes catchy, sparse pop with deep disco and jazzy flourishes. Dig Cholewka's wise and smoky vocals and Marsh's synth and bass lines grooving wickedly to Garwacke's bright and bouncy drumming. Meanwhile Smith laces the stuff with effects-heavy, spaced-out trombone gold. The group featured in Italian Vogue and Germany's Z magazine has been called "post-punk meets tropicalia" and "Eastern European nu wave." Their cover tunes range from Smokey Robinson to The Rolling Stones to 80s dance music mavens Nu Shooz. Fans leave Discovery live shows singing--first-timers wake up with Discovery songs still in their heads. Myspace: thisisdiscovery
